Our Story
For as long as I can remember, I've loved fabric, fashion, making things, and creating a home space that feels welcoming and cosy. I've always dreamed of a life and career that embraces my creativity. Country Cwtch was born from this love of interior design, old furniture & vintage style fabrics, taking hints from the Welsh countryside where I live but also designed with a Scandi twist from my time spent working & travelling there. Here at Country Cwtch we're dedicated to hand-making home furnishings, upcycling vintage furniture and creating interior spaces that reflect our clients' personalities and dreams. With a keen eye for design trends and a commitment to re-using vintage furniture & sustainable fabrics, workmanship & quality, we bring your vision to life through classic & timeless solutions.
Why "Country Cwtch"?
The idea behind the name "Country Cwtch" is that my style is very much "country cottage" & I started by sourcing. painting & renovating vintage pitch pine furniture and creating bespoke pieces with pre-loved vintage designer upholstery fabrics such as Laura Ashley & Clarke & Clarke.
I have lived in North Wales for more than half my life and take great inspiration from the colours & textures of the beautiful countryside surrounding us.
The Welsh word "Cwtch" generally means a hug or cuddle, but it also carries a deeper meaning of a safe, comforting space or embrace. It's often described as a hug that offers warmth, protection & a sense of security. It can also refer to a cubbyhole or small, cozy space. Much like the Scandinavian concept of "Hygge".
